xST Photographs Disappearing Black Neighborhoods

Photographer xST, also known as Shawn Theodore, spent time in the streets of Philadelphia and Baltimore to photograph passersby. In his Instagram bio, he describes his photos as “moments observed across a vanishing landscape of African-American neighborhoods.”

“I was watching TV and they were talking about all these indigenous people getting pushed out of Africa, and I’m like, that’s happening right here in my neighborhood,” said xST in a recent interview with LaToya Cross. “And the light bulb went off. It’s evident. These people are feeling the pressure of being pushed out.”
